Archaeology of Mind
An immersive spatial artwork by Ján Montoya
Archaeology of Mind (AM) is an immersive spatial artwork exploring memory, identity, curiosity, and the ways we construct meaning from a life. Built as a navigable world, AM uses architecture, sound, symbol, atmosphere, and subtle interaction to invite visitors to discover rather than simply observe.
At its center is a chamber that establishes the project’s fundamental language: mystery, restraint, patience, and presence. From there, the world opens into environments drawn from autobiography but designed to become something larger than autobiography. AM does not tell visitors what to think. It creates spaces in which meaning can emerge through attention, exploration, and experience.
DEVELOPMENT
Archaeology of Mind is currently in active development. The central chamber—the visitor’s entry point into the world—is now being built in Unreal Engine, bringing together architecture, sound, atmosphere, and interaction. From here, AM will expand outward, one environment at a time.
AN IMMERSIVE WORLD
The world of AM unfolds from a central chamber into four distinct environments, each exploring a different dimension of experience. Within them, places, objects, memories, and encounters emerge through exploration—forming a world that is deeply personal in origin, but open to discovery and interpretation.
